Creative New Zealand allocates $2.6 million per year to the 74 local authorities in New Zealand. This is distributed on a funding formula of a $5,000 base grant for each territorial authority district plus a per capita allocation of 60c per resident. The annual allocation for Tauranga is $59,544. The annual allocation for Western Bay Of Plenty is $27,939.

Creative Communities NZ provides the opportunity for communities to express and celebrate who they are through art. It enables individuals and organisations to grow, strengthen and enhance the local arts and culture sector adding depth and colour to the fabric of society.

The funding scheme is administered by Creative Tauranga (formerly Tauranga Community Arts Council) on behalf of the Tauranga City Council and Western Bay of Plenty District Council. The scheme has two major funding rounds per year.

The first of these closes on Friday 10 February 2012
The second closes on the Friday 14 September 2012

The staff at Creative Tauranga are happy to assist in the project development and application process for Creative Communities.
