Katie Des Forges lives at Waihi Beach and has been painting professionally since 2003. Katie pursued art right through school and university. Since having children she found painting a great way to relax and express her feelings and emotions. She is inspired by her love of people and nature. She has an abstract/contemporary style using bright bold colours and symbols. She overlays her paintings with original poetry and often a poignant phrase. Her studio is open to visitors and displays a wide variety of work.
